Today older Americans are heading back to school in record numbers. The National Center for Education Statistics estimates that students aged 25 years or older make up around 40 percent of college students. Many of these students have already advanced in a career, but want to gain knowledge or skills that can make them more competitive in the workplace. And colleges are struggling to deal with the different demands that older students make on a campus.
